Yoga Pixie, Sensible Yoga

My name is Lisa, I am a yoga teacher living in Blackburn, Lancashire, and I teach in the surrounding areas.

I have a lifelong passion for being outdoors in nature. I spent a
very active childhood climbing trees, biking and adventuring in the
local countryside, alongside ballet dancing and swimming.

I first began my yoga posture practice in 2009, following a car
accident and a period of inactivity. Physiotherapy helped my symptoms,
but only in the short term. Yoga presented the forum to work with my
body holistically, offering the opportunity to reconnect with my body
and it’s potential for movement.

I continued attending regular classes with my teacher Debbie Farrar
and also began attending her local yoga workshops. I completed the
British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course in 2013, deepening my knowledge
and learning more about all aspects of yoga. After this time I continued
a personal yoga practice and development at home and decided to follow a
teaching path.

I began my Yoga Teacher Training Diploma in February 2016, accredited
by the Independent Yoga Network and delivered by Debbie of Feel Now
Yoga’s Sensible Yoga School. I choose this course as it promoted a
sensitive, sensible and somatic approach to yoga posture practice whilst
honouring the yoga sutras, which felt like a naturally compatible with
my own practice and philosophy. In this time I have studied yoga
teaching skills, yoga philosophy and history, psychology, anatomy,
physiology, theories of human movement and much more.

I began teaching yoga in August 2016 in local leisure centres and
started my own regular Yoga Pixie classes in 2017. Being able to share
yoga with my local community is an amazing experience. I remain
passionate about learning how we connect with the world around us and
within us, embracing movement and authentic expression throughout our
lives.
