Walking and Wellbeing

Bringing the benefits of mindfulness into the outdoors.

This course is a weekend-long group course run in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales with the aim for you to practice mindfulness and connect with nature whilst guided by a skilled specialist. You will take part in simple mindful movements, breathing exercises and you will engage your senses in walking in the local landscape to fully calm and relax yourself.

Mindfulness is a practice that involves becoming more aware of what’s happening in the present moment, rather than worrying about the past or what might happen in the future. It’s about observing what’s going on, in a friendly and non-judgemental way. There is a growing body of evidence demonstrating the benefits of practising mindfulness in a range of areas, such as stress reduction, general wellbeing, as well as the many benefits of being in the outdoors, such as helping eliminate fatigue and lowering blood pressure.

The course will be led by Martin Summerfield who is registered with the UK Network of Mindfulness Based Teachers. Martin holds a Mountain Leadership Award and his experience includes over a decade of personal mindfulness practice, as well as experience of leading groups in the outdoors.
