Standing high on a plateau of the great Vindhychal ranges is the 16th century Castle Bijaipur. Having been occupied by Kings and Queens for centuries, the present Maharaja (a great lover of yoga) has opened the doors of his exquisite castle to the public. The hospitality is so wonderful you are made to feel like a Maharaj yourself from the moment you arrive.
We’ll be staying in the palace hotel for 8 nights and enjoying luxury camping by the lotus lake for 2. The hotel offers elegant rooms (shared or private options), fabulous India cooking, a swimming pool and live music. Surrounded by beautiful nature, wildlife and local culture, from cooking lessons to crafts and temples, you can get out and about on foot, by bicycle or jeep. Or..chill and read by the pool and enjoy some some well earned stillness, massage and me-time.
There’ll be a morning meditation and two Akhanda yoga sessions per day: dynamic asana and pranayama in the morning, then each evening focusing more on stillness and rejuvenation. Each day will have a different theme, weaving in elements of yoga philosophy, chanting and sound work.
