ASHTANGA YOGA CLASSES IN HASTINGS

Ashtanga Yoga is the original dynamic form of yoga. The synchronisation of breath with movement (vinyasa), the sequence of postures (asanas), and the gazing points (dristhi), bring about a strong and flexible body and mind. The heat created internally during practice allows for toxins to flow out of the body through sweat, cleaning the blood and all internal organs. This detoxification brings a lightness of being and a stillness of mind. All are Welcome.

Andria is an Experienced (+1000 teaching hours) Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) with the Yoga Alliance. She is direct student of Sri K Pattabhi Jois, John Scott and David Swenson.

CLASSES – No need to book. All classes are drop-in and held weekly.

MYSORE SELF PRACTICE ( Tuesday and Thursday Evenings 18.00 – 20.00 )
(Start times: 18.00 or 18.30. Finish practice by 20.00)
Mysore Self Practice is the traditional way of learning the Ashtanga Yoga method. Under the guidance of the teacher each student gradually learns and memorizes the set sequence of postures at his or her own pace. Instead of leading the class, the teacher gives each student individual instruction and hands-on adjustments. It’s almost like a private lesson but with the benefit of the group energy. This method allows for the student to practice silently, with increased inner awareness, and so slowly, over time, begin experiencing the moving meditation that is Ashtanga Yoga. Self-practice classes always have students of mixed levels and abilities practicing side by side. There are two start times 6pm or 6.30pm depending on your schedule and the duration of your practice. Initially, to learn the system, you will need to allow approx. 45 mins for a class, building up to about 1 and ½ to 2 hours once a full series of postures is being practiced. The Mysore self-practice class is a silent class, so if you come at the 6.30pm start time, please enter the room quietly.

Suitable for: Students of ALL levels who are familiar with the Ashtanga Yoga method or enthusiastic beginners who are committed to practicing what they have learned in the Beginners led class. Visiting students with an existing practice are welcome.
