A typical class with Dory includes a flowing posture sequence (asana), breathing exercises (pranayama), guided relaxation and yogic philosophy. She brings the essence of the ancient teachings to her classes in a fun and creative fusion of dynamic hatha flow, pranayama, meditation, profound relaxation and chanting. Her classes are fun and encourage students to discover their edge and use their practise in the art of personal transformation.
Certified to advanced level and teaching full time since 2001, Dory has trained with various yoga schools, amongst them Sivananda (traditional hatha Yoga), Satyananda (yoga nidra and meditation), Khrishnamakarya (Vedic Chant) and Donna Holleman (enlightened asana work), as well as studying yoga therapy with the Biomedical Trust.
Finding herself on her first asana mat at 18, Dory has experienced the true spirit of yoga as a transformational practise. She believes in the power of yoga to guide conscious evolution, individually and collectively. Through her own practise she has discovered that regular practise promotes effective, positive and healthy living. She believes strongly in making the yoga (union) adventure joyful, keeping it light and remembering to laugh!
Dory teaches classes, courses and private tuition around Bristol, the South West and London. She runs specialist yoga workshops as well as UK and international yoga retreats. She has instructed on yoga teacher training programmes (news coming soon of a new collaborative programme opening late 2014), has authored several yoga books and is certified in yoga therapy.
